Delta Air Lines,
the only U.S. carrier to serve Africa, said it
will expand its service to the continent with
the introduction of the first and only flight
between Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International
Airport and MonroviaÄôs Roberts
International Airport in Liberia. The service is
subject to government approval and will make a
stop in Amilcar Cabral International Airport on
Sal Island, Cape Verde, scheduled to start in
June 2009. Currently, Delta offers service
between the United States and six African
destinations with flights between New
YorkÄôs John F. Kennedy
International Airport and Accra, Ghana; Dakar,
Senegal; Cairo, Egypt; and Cape Town in South
Africa (via Dakar) and between Atlanta and
Lagos, Nigeria; and Johannesburg, South Africa

Emirates
Airlines, Airbus
Emirates Airline
has taken delivery of its second Airbus A380 for
use on its Dubai-New York route starting on 27
October. The A380 will join Emirates' existing
ultra-large Airbus variant also serving New York
JFK, increasing the frequency of A380-operated
flights to the US city to daily. Emirates
currently operates two Boeing 777-300ER daily
rotations to New York. Emirates has 56 more A380
machines on order, of which two more are slated
for delivery by the end of 2008.
